Upgrade Dnn upgrade

Here I am sharing my experience how to upgrade your existing dotnetnuke site from 5.6.3 to version 6.0.0

Steps to Follow:

1. First keep backup of both website and database, required for future if somthing goes wrong in between.

2. Download dnn 6.0 upgrade zip file from below link:
http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/releases/view/70103

3. Then unzip the 6.0 upgrade zip file inside your website, and overwrite existing files. It will create some new files and folder inside your website.

4. Then open www.yourwebsite.com/install/install.aspx?mode=upgrade url in browser, it will start upgrading dotnetnuke version process.

5. Finally click on below link to navigate to your upgraded dnn 6.0.0 website portal.

Issues After Upgrade To DNN 6 and Solutions:
 The major issue that may user can get after upgrading his website to 6.0 version i.e, the dnn modal popup may not work as a result admin cannot able to change any contents of html module, cannot install any new module etc. The quick solution for this issue is just switch to web.config file of your website and set debug mode as false.
<!-- set debugmode to false for running application -->
    <compilation debug="true" strict="false">

 If you want to create custom module and debug your application then you need to download dotnetnuke source package from http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/releases/view/70103, extract the zip file. Then copy the Debug folder present under DotNetNuke_Community_06.00.00_Source/Website/js and paste inside js folder of your website. Then you can set debug mode as true in your web.config file. Everything will work fine.

If you are facing further any problem then you can refer to below link for reference:
