Since I beginning working with DotNetNuke in 2005 I missed a module that could view the statistic data from a Shoutcast Broadcasting Server.  After the years I become more inside the coding and I started with my own project to this.  Now I am happy to announce you that a first ALPHA release I have posted to http://dnnshoutcaststats.codeplex.com .

What is a Shoutcast Server?

A Shoutcast® Server is a free Broadcasting Server that is developing by AOL™ and could be downloaded from http://www.shoutcast.com.  Many online Radio stations using this low cost broadcasting their live streames.  Of cause there are also other Broadcasting Solutions availible i.e. Media Server, Icecast and others.  But Shoutcast provides also a Streaming encoder for Winamp™ so you can easy find a cheap solution to live stream from your home to the Shoutcast server.  Also many professional ISP's are providing Shoutcast streams. 

Why a ShoutcastStats Module?

The Shoutcast server providing some statistics of Listeners, Songs, DJ, and more.  To become listerners and visitors there also a website is using.  Between today it was not simple tp provide information of the actually Broadcasting stream over a DotNetNuke portal.  So I create this module, for all the radio stations that searches since years for a module like this.  I splitted the module yet to two different views by design.  One with public statistics, and one with statistics as a list. Permissions for both module parts could be set for each module.

At time the module could view:

  • Offline (or)
  • Station Name
  • DJ Name
  • Direct links to the DJs messenger (AOL/AIM/ICQ/MSN/YAHOO)
  • Current listeners
  • max. listeners
  • Listerners Peak
  • bitrate
  • auto content update (60sec.)

 

  • Listerners listing with IP and connection time

  • List of the last played Songs

The Module is designed for DNN 5.3.1 and above,  needed .NET 3.5 and used LINK.

A live preview of this module (only first part is public visible) you could see on www.Moonlightradio.net which is a german private web radio.
